Germans are America's and western Pennsylvania's largest ethnic group.
According to the U.S. Census report, about 25 percent of all Americans share German
roots. While each ethnic group has made its contribution and each should be
proud German Americans make America special when we work to promote the best of
our ethnic culture and preserve our traditions.
This is your special invitation to join the German-American National
Congress, a national non-profit organization. We know you are interested in your
German heritage and want to understand your history and preserve it for future generations.
You can accomplish this when you support DANK, a respected organization dedicated
to the preservation of our German heritage and language. The Pittsburgh chapter
covers all of southwestern Pennsylvania and just recently created a sub chapter
in Uniontown called the Mason-Dixon sub chapter, to coordinate social, educational
and heritage functions within that southern Pennsylvania/ western Maryland and northern
West Virginia area. While many of our functions are social, we
support Adult German language classes, Genealogy programs, high school scholarships
and the German Radio Hour on WPIT.
Please select and fill out the attached application, print it out
and mail directly to our national office in Chicago or contact any of the
officers for more information on membership or general questions . Join us in working
to keep Germanic heritage part of our respective lives and maintain
the knowledge of our cultural contributions to American fabric. Dance Schoen!
