German-American National Congress, (DANK), was founded in Chicago, Ill in 1959 by those who had an  interest in preserving their Germanic heritage and culture. It has grown since then into the largest organization of Americans of German ancestry  across the land with over 30 Chapters and 100 associated member societies.  It is a non-political organization which endeavors to represent German-American interests on  local, regional and  national levels.

DANK Pittsburgh Chapter  seeks to promote the German culture on a local level by providing many social opportunities for our members to get together through a number of fun filled  events such as our authentic ‘Weihnachtsfeier’ (Christmas Party), Summer Picnic, Oktoberfests, Conversational Language classes, Genealogy classes, Scholorships, etc.  The chapter also, helps sponsor  the “German Hour”, broadcast weekly on Sunday at 4pm on WPIT, 730 on your  AM radio  dial.  It also publishes the ‘Mitteilungsblatt’ (communication leaf), our own local quarterly newsletter.

Our  web site is  a “work in progress”,  so please be patient as we continue to update the information.
